Catholic Schools Net $120,000 at Emerald Evening XVI

Rain, sleet, nor gale Ozark winds could dampen the excitement at Emerald Evening XVI, an annual event sponsored by Springfield Catholic Schools Development Board. Two hundred sixty guests gathered at Doubletree Hotel on March 21, 2010 for fine dining, live and silent auctions, socializing with friends in the Irish Pub and dancing till midnight at Emerald Isle – the theme of Emerald Evening XVI. Joe and Christine Daues guided guests through the evening as emcees and Nick Sanders delighted and entertained everyone during the 20 item live auction. Sarah Moses and Lindsay French chaired the gala event with the help of a twenty member committee. “Planning Emerald Evening in the spring instead of the fall helped to keep the event fresh and exciting for our guests…and they really enjoyed some of the new activities planned for the event”, stated Moses. French said, “The ten months of planning paid off big with net proceeds of more than $120,000 to benefit the students of Springfield Catholic Schools. Our kids are our future, so it’s the best place to invest our fundraising efforts.” “This annual event historically has been reserved for raising funds to supplement the technology needs of Springfield Catholic Schools. Thanks to the generous donation from David O’Reilly earlier this year, a portion of the proceeds will be used for technology and the Development Board will review the needs of the schools and make a recommendation for the remaining proceeds, said Amy DeMelo, Director of Schools.
Bill Hennessey, President of the Development Board stated, “I believe the families that send their children to our schools realize the great gift of learning each student receives and parents and other donors prove that by their generous support of Emerald Evening every year.”

New Press Box Needs Sponsors

One of the first things you’ll notice as you return to Springfield Catholic High School this fall is the new press box located at Swisshelm Field- Dr. Harvey Michael Track. In case you were not aware, the old press box was no longer useable due to deterioration in the floors and ceilings. The new press box is larger and completely maintenance free. In addition, new bracings were installed, a new sound system and reinforcements were made to the existing bleachers and fencing.  Your Athletic Boosters committed $20,000 to the project, SCS budgeted another $20,000 and we are wanting you to help as we begin the process of raising the remaining $22,000 needed to complete payment  for this project.

How do you help? Great question, the answer is simply advertise. Now the new press box and reinforced fencing has plenty of advertising space, and we would like nothing more than to fill it with OUR families businesses, or just family supporters. Here are the options. This is a great way to get your name out there and support our Fighting Irish. For more Information call 417-865-5567 or download the sign-up form.
