Springfield Catholic High School added Wrestling to the listing of winter sports offered at SCHS. The Irish held their 1st match on the home court on January 26, with a match against Glendale. Please follow this link to read Justin Dougherty’s take on Fightin’ Irish wrestling.
Springfield Catholic girls’ soccer coach,** Ben Timson, was recently named National Coach of the Year** in the Private/Parochial school division by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Timson led the Lady Irish to a 23-4 record during the 2011 season and their second consecutive Missouri Class 1 State Championship. Congratulations to Coach Timson and, Go, Irish!
SCS will be celebrating the 1000th Boys Basketball Victory Celebration on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the boys’ home game at SCHS. A special mass is planned and there will be reserved seating for past basketball players who RSVP. There will be recognition of players during half-time of the varsity basketball game and a special social gathering in the high school cafeteria for all alumni after the game. Please plan to join us for this very special evening.
Springfield Catholic Alumni Association hosted a Parents Night Out at the Metropolitan Grill on October 8. Our celebrity bartenders raked in the tips to generate funds for the SCAA and approximately $500 was raised for the association. It was a win-win evening for parents and SCAA!
One of the first things you notice as you arrive at a Fightin’ Irish football game is the press box located at Swisshelm Field- Dr. Harvey Michael Track. A few years ago, the old press box had become unusable due to deterioration in the floors and ceilings. The new press box is larger and completely maintenance free. In addition, new braces were installed, a new sound system and reinforcements were made to the existing bleachers and fencing. Funding for the project was provided by the SCHS Booster Club, SCS, and individual sponsorships/advertising. Please help us pay off the remaining $8300 needed to complete payment for this project.

Season Four of Dancing With OUR Stars was a phenomenal success. The fun-filled event took place on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Ramada Oasis Convention Center. The event netted over $140,000 and the tickets were sold out well in advance (June, 2011)
The STAR lineup included; Laura Dannegger dancing with Andy Walls of Dance With Me and Savoy Ballroom (Pink Team); Keith George dancing with Season One Champ, Erin Garner, of Dance Mission and Red Door Dance Company (Black Team); Chan Rogge dancing with Professional Dance Instructor Danae Colvin (White Team); Mark Skrade dancing with Season Three Champ, Anne Walls, of Dance With Me and Savoy Ballroom (Yellow Team); Michele Tyson dancing with Professional Dance instructor Derrick DeVonne King (Silver Team); AND finally, Christine Wester dancing with Season Two Champ Jim Criger, Professional Instructor at Savoy Ballroom. The evening was attended by 670 supporters of Springfield Catholic Schools.
